AIR WEAPONS PAGE
Air Rifle and Pistol shooting is probably the best introduction to competitive and pleasure shooting. The club has both air rifles and pistols which can be used for introduction to the sport, and for competition. We do cater for right and left hand shooters, but members are encouraged to invest eventually in their own personal equipment. Coaching and safety training are introduced on your first visit to the club, so that you will feel comfortable on the firing point under supervision. Coaching is arranged to suit your abilities, from beginners to more experienced shooters. Levels progress to county and national level, also preparation for junior national training squads where appropriate. The club’s recent success was a bronze medal in air rifle at the 2012 Paralympics. All air weapons are .177 calibre using wad cutter pellets for competition. Both rifle and pistol competitions are shot in accordance with rules of the National Smallbore Rifle Association (NSRA) or International rules (ISSU). Additional rules may be made and added to county level competitions. The club shoots at a distance of 10 metres using electronic target changers, although other distances may be used, including timed and turning targets for special competitions. We do not cater for field target shooters, so we suggest anyone interested in this field of sports contact a club geared up for these activities. Both juniors and disabled shooters are welcomed. However, we ask that parents or guardians accompany juniors on all occasions since, although we have CRB checked personnel, these individuals are not available on every occasion.
