ACCESSIBILITY

The range at Ross on Wye was constructed to cater for all shooters, regardless of any physical disability. There is of course wheelchair access and we actively encourage the disabled to shoot and compete at the highest level. A Ross on Wye shooter was selected (and represented) the country in Paralympic shooting events (winning a Bronze medal in Beijing). Another has competed in 2 muzzle loading (pistol) World championships (Portugal & Germany, and has won numerous UK titles.

SHOOTING FOR THE BLIND OR VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Ross-on-Wye target shooting club is able to offer air rifle shooting for people with visual impairment, using match air rifles. The rifles are fitted with specialist sights which converts light reflected of the target into sound; this is transmitted to the shooter through headphones. This is made possible by the use of special targets. The nine and ten rings on the target are white, with the rest of the target getting darker by two ring graduations. There are two ways of shooting, firstly stand supported, where the rifle is supported on a stand, and secondly unsupported where the shooter holds the rifle in the normal way, both are challenging but very enjoyable. There are summer and winter competitions and the British Championships are held in march. Ross TSC is fortunate to have an experienced coach  in this form of shooting.
