FACILITIES
Though it must be said the club accepts no responsibility for either loss or damage, there is adequate safe off road parking in the club car park. Leaving aside toilet facilities and the armoury, there are two main rooms inside the building; these are the club room and the range. The club room is around 6 metres by 6 metres with plenty of seating provided, and the equipment is made available to make hot drinks.
The range is around 30 metres by 6 metres, and the maximum distance that can be shot in the range is 25 metres; up to 6 shooters can use the range at any one time. For Gallery rifle, 6 firing points are set up at the 25 metre distance. One lane has extra reinforcement for the shooting of heavier .44 magnum rounds. Gallery rifle uses turning targets that are programmed with an electronic sequencer. These targets turn rapidly, and are pneumatically driven. A target that runs the width of the range is also set up from time to time: This is not for formal competition; it is for friendly challenge - but most of all its to introduce more fun!
Prone rifle shooters shoot lying prone at 25 metre distance. There is carpet on the floor for the convenience of the shooter, but dedicated prone shooters choose to bring their own rolled up mat.
Air weapons are shot from the 25 metre point, but over 10 metre (rifle) and 20 metre (pistol) distances. Dedicated equipment is set up on air weapons night; this equipment incorporates an electrically driven target retrieval system.
